Most often in my critical
thinking and brain training classes, I’ll get people who want to know
how to stretch the upper right (Red Sky in Mindex Instrument*) quadrant. One
of the best ways is “total immersion.” Here’s
a few quick tips.
I’ll recommend that
you sign up (and take) an art class. Notice I included “take.” It
might be any type of class from photography, to clay, to watercolor.
If you are more left brain
dominant (either cortex or limbic) you will probably cringe by the thought
of this suggestion. Remember, that response is
an indicator of the unfamiliarity you may bring to using that part of your
brain. So go ahead. Take the plunge!
One easy way for you to
test the water on this idea is to stop by shows that you will find advertised
at your local arts center, community college, university, etc. Go
in and look around. If you like what you see
think about enrolling in a class. Be careful
not to be discouraged with your inner speech pattern (“you’ll
never be able to do that!”) What is most important,
is if the images you see are appealing to you.
Let us know what you think,
or how it goes:
